I swear my printer is haunted. It makes the sound like when you first turn it on (the sound of the cartridge moving back and forth into position) when it is turned off. It even does it when the computer is turned off. It scares the heck out of me at 3 AM when it does it. Why does it do that???

Hi. The phantom is with you. Add a surge protector and switch it off before bed.

Abandon the house and leave the printer in the basement as a free gift to the next occupant.
OR, get a surge protector. Dah....

Get a surge pretector - Mine did the same thing until I got one. They are cheap at Radio Shack and Best Buy.
