The ticket was recieved in NJ. I am a Florida resident, with Florida tags. Is there any legal way around this?

Fix the headlights or tail lights or whatever it is that's out, and pay the ticket. If you don't, it WILL follow you to Florida. Big Brother is checking everybody these days.

A light bulb just came on over my head. To avoid this from happening in the future, maintain them today. As far as the NJ citation, and the Florida residence, unless there is something magic when you go back to Florida that makes the lights work, I'd say you're stuck with fixing them yourself.

Most places will give you like 10 days or 2 weeks to fix your headlights or lamps. You fix them, find a cop, show him you fixed them, he signs your ticket, and you mail it in without any money.
After the time frame, you pay the money.

Maintain your lamps. It will stop the problem in the future.
