I have pressed the red button already, and opened the filter already, and still it won't stay on.

Your fuel lines have air in them.

If your tank is higher than the burner, you can start by opening the little screw on top of the filter that bleeds air from it. If yours has one, this will fix your line up to the filter.

Your fuel pump will have a little nipple on it where you attach a small piece of tubing/hose to run into an old jar or can. The base of this nipple will have a hex for an open-end wrench. Crack the fitting loose and with the power on, hit your red reset button. The burner should fire but it won't burn right, thats OK. You may have to do this a couple times depending on the length of tubing between the filter and burner. You want the foam to pass and the fuel should have few bubbles in it when the line is full. Carefully shut the bleed vent and you are done! Remove the tube and clean up any mess.
