From the perspective of these considerations::
Religious - "If we as a country accept homosexual marriage, we will be turning our backs on God and it will cost the entire country in lost blessings."
Economic - "If we give the tax, insurance, employee benefits to gay couples as well as straight couples, it will cost us too much in dollars. It would be like a state saying 'Instead of giving free college to the top 10% of high schoolers, let's expand that to 20%'. It'll cost a lot."
AIDS - "If we 'legitimize' homosexuality, more people will be contracting AIDS. Just as when condoms started being made more freely available, it didn't curb pregnancies, but rather gave our youth the impression that we were giving them the OK on premarital sex."
Upbringing - "Children should have male and female role models growing up. Traditionally, dad showed by example both to the sons and daughters what a man is supposed to be. Mom also showed what a woman is to be. Divorce is wreaking havoc on this training ground, but as a society we should not be setting up a system that automatically takes out these models."
Procreation - "One of the things that HAS held many marriages together is the idea of a "shared" blood offspring. With homosexual couples, this will not be a tie that helps bind the marriage."

I could care less if gays marry. Have at it. I'm more concerned with our troops in Iraq, the growing national debt, the availability of health care for the average American and the growing problem of illegal immigration. Why do our politicians (BOTH parties) have their heads in the sand? Now they're using this crisis in health care at Walter Reed and other Army/VA hospitals as a giant photo-op. Oh, and our brilliant commander-in-chief is appointing a bi-partisan commission to "study" the problem. A complete waste of taxpayers' dollars. What ever became of the 9/11 Commission Report? Wasn't that another bipartisan "study" and where did that end up, other than the shelves of your local Barnes & Noble bookstores?
Sorry, back to your question. To paraphrase Kinky Friedman, my favorite Texan, Let (gays) marry and be as miserable as straight (married) people! lol

Religious people are causing all this fuss, "it's not what God wanted, or what he created". It's nobodies business but the people who want to get married.
LEAVE THE HOMOSEXUALS BE AND LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE, NOT THEIRS!!!!

I honestly think they like the control; being able to take rights away from other people.

Because people are ignorant. They are afraid of what they don't understand. Why do you think they crucified Jesus?

I have no problems with it but I have heard that God didn't make it that way...he made Adam and Eve...not Adam and Steve. I say if they want to get married let them.
