Personally I would have a hard time picking. With the smaller one's like the neons, glowlights and Rasboras you could fit plenty more in the tank maybe 4-5 of each.
The Platys would be a good choice if you are interested in raising baby fish and the Dwarf Gouramis would be good if you are interested in breeding egg layers.
Lots of pluses and minuses for each type so consider what it is you want out of your tank and that can help you make a good choice for you.

For a 10 gallon I would suggest a dwarf gourami and 2-3 platies. I like tetras and rasboras but if you really want to have a nice school you need 7-10 of them and thats just too much fish for a 10 gallon tank. A dwarf gourami would be a very nice center piece type fish in there. You could breed the platies in there if you want or you could get all male or all female fish if you don't want little ones. If you don't wanna bother differentiating between males and females and your fish do end up having fry you could opt to try and save them or they can provide some live food for your other fish. If you want some type of bottom feeding fish I'd suggest kuhli loaches, they're very cool fish and you could probably throw 3 of them in there with 3 platies and a dwarf gourami.

I like platies. I find them to be friendly, long lasting, and hardy. They come in many colors and shapes, and are cheap.
Tetras are also a good choice. but I've found them to die more easily than platies.
A rule of thumb is a one-inch fish needs a gallon of water. So a ten-gallon aquarium can have 10 one-inch fish, or 5 two-inch fish, or 3 1/3 3 inch fish (haha)...you get the picture!

They're all pretty good but the Harlequin Rasboras look pretty cool.
The general rule of thumb I've heard is that you need at least 1 gallon of water for every inch of fish. So if you have 3 fish at 2 inches each, you need 6 gallons of water at least. Remember, a 10 gallon tank does not really hold 10 gallons of water since you won't fill it exactly to the top and the fish, substrate, decorations, etc. take up space.

I think neons and glowlights are very colorful and very pretty when in their schools. I would prefer cardinal tetras, but they are little more difficult to maintain. As for how many in a ten gallon, you can probably only fit one school (two if you do the bare minimum for them to feel safe in their schools). Platies, I don't know enough about them to comment. The dwarf gourami, you can probably fit a couple, if you wanted to have a schooling tetra group as well. Harlequin's I also don't know enough about.

They are all good choices. the old rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water but with good filtration you can double that. You can put in 10 inches of fish which looks like 1 of each species and a pair of each species with a good filter.
