CSU meaning California State University, **SU meaning a university such as San Fran State U (are those two the same types of colleges?), and UC, of course, meaning University of California. I'm wondering about the difference in terms of education. Do you really learn more or better at a UC than you would at a lower-status college?

I work hard in high school and would like the best for college, but thinking of the cost and the worth of brand names . . . are UCs truly what I should shoot for?

CSU and **SU are the same thing. Both refer to the various Cal State Universities. It's just that some schools are more commonly referred to as the City and the add "State" after it.

For example, San Fran State, Long Beach State, and San Jose State are the names most people know those schools by. Officially, they're the Cal State University of San Francisco/Long Beach/San Jose.

What you get out of a school has a lot to do with the effort you put in. However, the UCs will tend to attract better professors, your fellow classmates tend to be smarter and more ambitious. Things of that nature. That stuff tends to rub off on you, leading you to have higher goals, higher expectations of yourself, etc.

Plus, the UCs do have a better rep, making it easier for you to get jobs or get into grad school. So yes, you should shoot for the UCs. Cost wise, they're about the same for CA residents. If a UC costs more, it's negligible. If you ever have to choose btw a UC and a Cal State, the cost to attend isn't something that should come into play (other than living costs maybe).

properly is the real distinction between the two is that UC's are extra examine pushed then CSU. CSU obtain extra public investment in comparison to UC's. UC's do fee extra advantageous than CSU's because of the shortcoming of public investment. the class sizes are smaller in CSU's and you've gotten the means to get a lot extra interest than at a UC. A UC education is extra prestigious. there is not any intelligence distinction between the two structures, so do not pay attention to the others. The education you get particularly relies upon on the dep. potential to boot as what you do to hire the eduacational fabric it particularly is being presented to you. look at what the college is particularly sturdy for. A CSULB grad with an paintings degree with get employed earlier one from Berekeley or UCLA. So particularly think of roughly which college is extra perfect interior the considerable(s) you prefer to go in, seeing it particularly is particularly the place you may go. the college call will mean a lot extra on your mom and dad and relatives, yet who taught you is extra considerable to employers.

Generally speaking UC schools have more to offer than SC, or CSU schools as far as breadth of classes. learning more or better is your responsibility not that of the school. SC schools being smaller have a more tight knit networking for post graduation.

In the long run think about what you want to study. That is the biggest guiding factor.

If you are looking at cost and you are instate go to a UC school just avoid Santa Cruz if you want to got to a school with a good rep. Highest reputation of all these is UC Berkley.
