What causes a guitar amp, pa system, etc. to "blow out"?

I plan to have a Fender Hot Rod De Ville connected to a 4x10" Crate cabinet, would this work out fine? or would i have to worry about possibly blowing out my amp/cabinet?

Don't get a Crate amp. Crates suck.
Get a Marshall VIntage Stack., THey the shiznit. It'll work though you cheap SOB Black hatin Popo favorin peice of white trash trailer trash Cow Driving, Smelly...Just kiddin yua feelin me home boy?
