I remember Jeff Bagwell and his chronic shoulder problems. He couldn't even throw a baseball by the end of his career! I get that Wade is the ultimate team player but is he risking too much by opting for rehab instead of surgery?

Also the Heat seem to be doing fine without him as Shaq has stepped up and looks like he could carry them into the playoffs in a very weak Eastern Conference.

It sounds like he knows what he's doing. He might be doing it to be a good team player, but I think he's realizing that while he has time, Shaq doesn't. How many more years can Shaq run up and down that court being as heavy he is? When will his knees begin to need ice all the time? I imagine he's weighed that in with the injury. If it doesn't work out, he'll still have the option of surgery, so his risk doesn't sound that great. I'd really like to see him back and able to play well. The East, not just Miami, needs Wade because it needs more competitive teams to make the playoffs interesting.

I think he is being a good team player in trying to rehab his shoulder, but you have to think down the road. This is not going to help him last in the NBA. There have been player that have this problem, rehabed it and then had to retire because the injury was reoccurring. If I were him I would have the surgery fix the problem come back next season 100%. Even when he comes back he will not be 100%. This type of injury takes time and rest to heal. If he comes back he will not have the time or the rest for it to heal with the playoffs right around the corner.

I think this is a bad move, he could ruin his carreer by doing this, they have not played up to the hype you should see from a championship defending team. He will not be a hundred percent even if he does get back. He needs to be 100 percent to help his team win it and he wont be. This means he should get that surgery as soon as possible to be ready for next year, just think of what we will be saying when we realize he cant drive or shoot like he should be able to, averaging maybe 18 points a game, and in game 3 of the secound round he hurts his shoulder again and must stay out. No if he wants to help his team he needs to make sure he will be there for many more years to come. He thinks he's doing a good thing but after he rehurts his shoulder think of how long he will be out after getting major surgery, also he will never be the same player if this does indeed happen

He said it cant get any worse so there is no point in him sitting out the season. Whether he has the surgery now or later he still wont play in the summer so its really the only choice he had.
If he said he was having surgery, then BANG goes the Heat's season, the players wont be motivated, the crowd wouldn't turn up and basically the rest of the season would be garbage time.
But the style of game he plays, he will be relying on his jumper a lot so everyone will need to step up and if they get some luck they can win the Leastern Conference

it must not be as serious as people have suggested. so perhaps Wade is lookin at it as something that can be done after they have their attempt at a repeat. id also say he is willing to play through some pain because he knows this may be one of his last few chances to win a title with Shaq in the line up. Shaq is playing well, but im sure many will doubt his durability from now and into the play offs. if Shaq has to carry the load he will wear out by end of the season. with Wade around they can bounce off one another and share responsibilities out there on the court

Dwayne took this long to make this decision and I'm totally baffled that he is attempting to come back for this year. He's got his ring and all of the money, fame, etc. and he wants to potentially jeopardize his future just for the sake of getting eliminated in the first or second round this year. I think that he's obviously being pressured to come back because Shaq is getting fat and old and if he doesn't compete now, the championship plans go out the window. He seriously needs to reassess the situation and think about the future for not only himself but the whole team. In two or three years. he'll be the only player on the team that will decide solely if they can remain competitive or become a lottery team for years to come. Throw in the fact that he'll make the max starting next year and than the Heat really can't afford to lose him for any extended amount of time if they have to rebuild on the fly.

In my opinion I think he is bieng brave but bieng a heat fan i would hate to see him turn out with a hurt shoulder in the end. And reffering to Shaq holding up the team he is getting by the poor East but Im not too sure they would stand a chance against primier teams such as the Suns and the Mavs in the finals. Either way im a die-hard Wade and Heat fan

I think D. Wade is a "Team Player" after getting several evaluations he decided on rehab. The guy has already won a Championship, and he is a champion. He will have several great years as a superstar. If was at risk he would not attempt a comeback.

D-wade is being coerced into coming back before his time. He has taken a verbal butt whoopin at the hands of the sports media, who has basically punked him into coming back. Why else would he? He put Miami on his back last year and won that franchise it's first title....what does he have to prove? and to who does he need to prove it? Miami needs to think of the long haul....as in what does he mean to your franchise? if they're willing to let him come back this soon, and take the risk of a having a worse injury to the same shoulder...he's not important to them at all. Detroit let Grant Hill continue to play on a bad wheel....in a playoff series against the Heat (2000), when they knew darn well they didn't have a chance to win, and look at him now. he has never fully recovered from that. now he's been doomed to injury after injury after injury. as a huge fan of NBA basketball, i feel the world was cheated out of seeing (in Grant Hill) what could have been one of the best players to pick up a ball. why should D-Wade take that chance?

Dumb!!! He is fighting an up-hill battle. In a series teams are gonna focus on your weaknesses. Why risk bigger injuries? He should follow the so-called leaders of the heat & forget about the team and take care of his body!! (pat riley-hip, shaq-knee) there will be more seasons to prove himself!!
