Don't hack for bad purposes, and don't ask the hacker community "n00b" questions or they get upset. There are white hat(good purpose), and black hat(malicious) ones. There are also gray-hat ones that do both. There are also crackers that do the very bad stuff that leads to going to jail. To do beneficial stuff, learn computer security stuff, then you can hack for a job legally, lol. If you want to get good, program, learn networks, get utilities, learn other techniques. Read good books like The Art Of Deception, but don't hack, it is ILLEGAL and I don't recommend it at all.

The difference between a hacker and a network administrator is intent. Hackers want to break stuff. Net admins want to keep stuff running. Buy some books on network administration. It will lead to a decent paying job doing something that you enjoy. Hacking leads to being broke and sitting behind bars.

You need to learn C, C++, Shell, Perl, PHP, WAP, WML, and other languages, how to build a system, mount files, proper postion of codes.
You have to be willing to test it out ON YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT, even if it means losing your computer.
The gentleman earlier mentioned hacking and cracking.
I'll take it further. Hackers test program and software. The tell you- with your permission- how secure your site is.
Cracking is electronic breaking and entering.

Well there are "Hackers" (they design programs and know alot of code) and there are "Crackers" (they break into online security systems and cause harm) Going into hacking there is a large chance you will get arrested (even if you didn't harm the system)
But if you WANT to learn it's best to go to someone who knows it in real life.

Wrong place to be seeking a hacker as an apprentice. Depending on the hat you wear, depends on where you will have a better chance of finding what you seek. IT security organisation(s) which again depend on what area of IT Security and white hat, or grey hat too perhaps.
Probably best trawling IRC if you are seeking black hat.

~ Why would you publicly advertise on the internet that you intend to break the law?
