I'm in the mist of writting a book and in lots of pressure because I'm trying to get it done faster than my friend. It's a fantasy book. I'm just wondering how I'm going to get this out into the world.

If you look at most sci fi/fantasy writers histories, they got started by publishing short stories in magazines. There are also short story contests.

You have to get your name out there as a reliable decent author, and the easiest way is to get short stories published. It's unusual to get a book published first, without an agent. And most agents won't look at you until you've been published.

The same way you publish any other book.

They used to take short stories in magazines but that isn't really done much anymore.

DAW books is a good publisher for fantasy, and submitting to them is easy, simply send in your manuscript, if they find it suitable for publication, they'll do so, if not, they'll send you your manuscript back.
