He felt that in order for african americans to receive fair and equal treatment they had to basically do whatever it took, even if they had to get violent. He believed "playing nice" would only keep african americans where they were.

His ideas consisted of equal democracy for ALL not just the "privilaged". How can we call ourselves a democratic society if the people who govern us are all the same color. Every president we had is the same color. There are more than just Whites livin in the U.S. so lets have equal repesentation for ALL. Malcolm represented the frustration and anger of the freed African slave who is still struggling today.

A very reasonable proposition: don't have anything to do with the race that has exploited, oppressed and enslaved us. That is the whites. It lead to a fairly glorious episode in African American history when 'Blacks' terrified white culture-The Black Panthers. I am a white person but have to take my hat off to his courage in rejecting all forms of reconciliation and appeasement. Belief in one's own convictions fueled the French Revolution and the American Revolution. Unfortunately, we now believe in appeasing any form of unreasonable behaviour and cannot act any more from the heart.
