Ask yourself how important this will be to you in 5 years.

Everyone has their own beauty regardless of their body shape or size. Since our media fills the visual spectrum with bodies that have been airbrushed, cut down, altered and photographically enhanced, you have been fed a version of body image that is a lie.

My high school (back in the day) had several young ladies on the cheerleading squad that were INCREDIBLE! They also happened to tip the scales a bit further over than the other gals trying out.

They made it because they brought more to the table than a barbie doll with pom poms. They brought genuine spirit, a cheerful face and a mouth like a megaphone that really shouted out the words to the cheers. If you have been cheering for years, GO FOR IT!

From an adult perspective, I have spent more time enjoying what I attempted win, lose or draw and have a few regrets for the things I chickened out on....LEARN THE ROUTINES, PRACTICE DILIGENTLY ALL OF THE MOVES, MEMORIZE THE CHEERS AND YOU GO FOR IT!

Whether you make it on the squad or not does not determine who you will be in the long run.

Don't take this wrong, but a lot of girls think they are fat and ugly, so don't worry about it.

I say if you LOVE it, go for it!!!!! You've been doing it for a while so that puts you above some people (like me for instance, I never cheered before I tried out). If you make it, that is totally awesome!!! If not, there is always next year. On top of everything, you might even make some new friends, regardless of whether you make the squad or not.

You should go for it. That sucks that you have low self esteem, just get over it and go for it. If its something you LOVE, don't let anything stand in your way.
Good Luck
