For the car, no, for the rest of the planet...potentially. Very possible you have a cat going bad, or a downstream O2 sensor that's lazy or contaminated. Have to view the data stream to be sure. And you need a scanner for that, can't take it to AutoZone like so many on here like to recommend.

It may mean your o2 sensor is going bad or the cat converter is going bad. The emmissions has a high warrenty so check with a shop or dealer to get it fixed. It will eventually effect the gas millage and the way it runs.

if you took it to a dealer and that's what they told you than yes it is bad....if it is a light on your dash saying that there could also be a problem
