My mom hemmed my cargo pants (not genes) but now they're too short. Just for the record, I didn't want them hemmed. They're my favorite pair of cargo pants and I want to elongate them. Is there any way to do it without making them look awkward? :\

HEY! im really glad someone actually asked this...i thought i was the only one that was wanting my pants longer lol......well i asked my friend and she said, that ALL u do is spray them quite a bit with H20. while someone is streaching them, u blow dry. MAKE SURE u keep the pant legs streached out as hard as u can. this will help, ive done it on like 2 pairs of my pants..and it worked. God Bless♥

How To Make Pants Longer

When she hemmed them, did she cut off the fabric or just fold it under and stitch a new hem? If she left the fabric, you can simply let the hem back out. If she cut the excess fabric off, you're stuck with the short version.
I once extended a pair of too-short jeans by cutting the bottoms off of an old pair and sewing the "extensions" onto the pair I wanted to lengthen. I thought it looked pretty good -- for a high schooler.

I used to make my pants longer by hanging wet on the line
folding the hem up to make a pocket
pin up with big safety pins
place a small weight in the pocket you have made
let dry
the added wwight seems to allow stretching up to 1 inch longer

Or take the hem back out carefully with a seam ripper tool

rip out the hem and let it shag, that is what is in now anyway, another thing, if you have the skill, seam rip the waist band offf the pants along with the belt loops (if any). make sure you don't cut the material just the thread seams. Cut the waist all the way around about an inch. re attach the waist band and loops. Now you have some real stylish not too much hip huggers with shaggy cuffs!!! Boom instant styling gal!!
