I recently bought a 3 yr old leopard appaloosa gelding and would like to know more about the breed and pros and cons. What do you know about registering him? I dont know his sire or dam but he has appaloosa markings such as striped hooves, white spots under eyes, etc.

Meanwhile I will send also a link to my particular favourite, the Gypsy Vanner Horse!

I hope that helped. How lucky you are. Before I discovered I was highly allergic to horses, I wanted an appaloosa with all my heart.

I have 2 apps. 1 5 yr old mare in foal. 1 19 mth old filly. My mare has papers to be registered, and the stallion she is bred to also has papers. But they have not been sent in (papers) so the foal she is carrying and my 19 mth old cannot be registered cause the parents are not. So you have to know that the sire and dam are registered before you can register your horse. My mare doesnt have many of the app traits but my filly does. She has the white blanket, striped hooves, blotchy skin, and white around her eyes. They have to have 3 of the traits (I believe its 3) to be considered a true app. My mom has a lep and she is beautiful. My mare is a bit on the moody side buy I would be too if I had to carry a foal for a yr. But she is a good horse no real bad habits, my filly (her daughter &my moms studs daughter) is a real sweetheart. I have never seen a more gentle horse. She was basically wild when we bought her now a year later she is just the best. Some say they are stubborn but I think that is just an oppion. Just as other horses are stubborn.
