I think we will make ‘data’ contact in that time or sooner. In other words, I think we will find physical proof that other levels of parallel universes exist but it may only be by retrieving some form of data from one. Actually traveling to one may take a bit longer than 50 years.
Oh you meant Galaxy? Oops. Well then, no. We need a bigger breakthrough than anything we have seen yet to travel over 2 million light years so quickly. But I have hope that we will in less than 100 years; one way or another.
We can’t even look at, or know if other life exists in our own Galaxy yet.
Frankly, I do think there is other life out there. God wouldn’t have created such a big place, and with so much room in between, otherwise.

universe is the whole thing... consisting of galaxies and star system..
in the next 50 years.. I don't think we will reach other galaxy or other star system... we are struggling to even reach outside of our own solar system... Mars is not as convenient as we think we can live there... the climate, the weather, the atmosphere, it's a lot of unstudy things up there... I agree with 1 of the answer saying that life does exist in other galaxies... the universe is too big for us to be alone... the problem is not just where ther other life form is, it's a matter of time as well... the time for a few thousand years of human species is not even a single drop of the 8 billion years of the universe...

i always thought the universe was everything.... do you mean another galaxy?
I think it's possible, we as humans have come a long way since our beginning, and even more so in the last 2000 years, but the main problem with getting to Mars or another galaxy would be time.
it takes a LONG time to get anywhere in the universe, to make space travel worth it we'd have to develop a much faster form of travel.
it took the first Mars Rover 7 months to get to Mars, would you be willing to travel 7 months to get there? We'd also have to develop LARGE self sustaining vehicles to get to Mars to make it feasible.
after all that is taken into account, i say it is definately possible to travel outside our grasp and explore the universe

If World War 3 start, then it should help speed up technological development and this might get us to Mars in probably less than 20 years. To another Universe, well if we got transwarp drive - probably.

You probaly meant another galaxy, right? I read that we could in theary achieve 80% speed of light, as the craft talked about increased to it's optimum velosity, over time, of course.
With such a craft, if we left now, we could get to a solarsystem in the Andromeda Galaxy in about 50 years.
The time consuming part would be the construction of such a craft. We've theorized about anti matter crafts, solar laser sail crafts, nuclear core steam crafts with lots of torque, and many others.

Another UNIVERSE?
Did I miss something here? Do you perhaps mean another solar system?
Addendum: I don't pay a whole LOT of attention to science news, but I do know that they are looking at the phenomena of wormholes as a means of travel, i.e. a massive shortcut.
50 years? Sounds kind of ambitious to me. I'd guess longer, but who knows?

no , not as long as we don't have the time warp continuum.
the size of the transportation would have to be massive in size.
