I know what a pain it can be trying to get your sister to do her part with her rabbit. But the truth is, that most household plants are poisonous and many are even DEADLY to rabbits, so she needs to understand that if her bunny eats any plants on the house, that the bunny COULD die. Maybe this will get her to realize how serious this is.

Its never easy bunny proofing a house at first. Plants and electrical cords are the most important things to get out of the rabbit's reach. Many household plants are dangerous and even deadly to bunnies, and chewing on a plugged in electrical chord could not only start a fire, but could fry the little bunny up as well!

The easiest fixes:
Move plants to bookshelves, hanging baskets off the ceilings, outside, or on window sills. Squirting a stream of water at a bunny wont teach them anything but to fear you. A bunny's natural instinct is to eat on the run, so scaring an animal that is used to being scared all the time in the wild... well.... it wont do much in your house for you, the houseplants, or the bunny either lol. Plus... it can be deadly to scare a bunny. They have really really fast heart rates and are animals that have the ability to actually scare themselves to death via cardiac arrest... so no scaring bunny please!
The easiest way to do anything with electrical cords... is to go to IKEA and get electrical cord covers. They're really cheap there (in the lighting section) and come in grey and black. Sometimes white, but not often. Anyhow, they look like vacuum hoses with slits down the long part of them. Your chords go right into the slots, and out of the bunny's reach, keeping your stuff and your sisters bunny from getting trashed! If you cant get a way to an IKEA, stapling cords to the walls as near the baseboards as possible can sometimes do the trick too. I know you didn't mention this as a problem, but you've obviously got a curious little bunny running around, so this could become a problem real soon if it hasn't yet.

Sometimes a bunny trying to get to the house plants isn't just because they're hungry.....

Bunnies have a natural desire to chew the heck out of stuff because (like beavers) their teeth are constantly growing. Having some untreated wood, old yellow pages, newspapers, or old cotton jeans around for the rabbit to tear up might redirect the bunny's chewing desires away from the household plants. If you choose to try this, keep something near everywhere she seems to run around often, instead of just bringing it out once in a while. It will not only make it easier for the bunny to find the stuff whenever they want, but will also make it feel like the bunny's home. :)

Another idea: simply put things around the plants, blocking any access to them by the little bunny. Some bunnies won't hop on things if they look slippery (like laminated, enameled, and glass stuff).

The last thing you may want to try, is getting your sister to spay her bunny as soon as it's old enough (6 months old at least). Aggressive and undesired behaviors often lessen and even disappear completely after a bunny gets spayed. Plus, bunnies are prone to cancers and other diseases... spaying them not only seriously reduces these problems, but also INCREASES their lives for a year or more, so if anything, its paying for another year of life with the pet!

I know this post ended up being a lot longer than I had wanted it to be, and am sure you didn't plan on seeing such lengthy ones, but one thought led to another, etc etc, and i kinda got some momentum during this post and a lot of really important things came to mind while thinking of your bunny and houseplants.

I hope this has given you some ideas as to maybe why she eats the plants, how unhealthy it is, and what possible steps you can try to get your sister to do what she should for the bunny!

Bunny proof. It's going to be pretty much impossible to get it to stop. Put the plants on a shelf or fence off the area that your rabbit can play in.

There is a spray you can get called Bitter Apple. It should be available at the pet store. Spray it on anything you don't want Peter Rabbit to gnaw on. Wires, plants, etc....works for dogs, cats....anything furry with four legs, basically. Good luck!!

rabbits are made to eat, the only way your plants will stay whole is if you move them out of the bunnies reach, and give her plenty of timothy hay and fresh veggies to munch on.
