Go to GE's web site and look around for a "contact us" block. Give them the model number. Chances are you can download a user manual that will help. Otherwise, e-mail them a specific question.

If this is a fairly late model then listen up. The late model dispensers use a delay circuit to close the door. A solenoid pulls the door open when energized. After a 3-4 second delay a spring pulls it back shut. The problem that occurs is rust on the plunger that is pulled in by the solenoid. It will look like an easy fix to remove and clean the parts. That repair never lasts. Replace the solenoid and plunger at the same time. Also inspect the closer spring for rust and if rusty change it too.
