In favor.

The arguments for a decent minimum wage recognize that the economy exists to deliver societal benefits. The minimum wage says that as a society, we recognize that there is a minimum value to labor and that employers who will not pay that minimum are not engaged in an enterprise that is beneficial to society on balance.

The arguments against minimum wage are based on economic theories that have a certain intuitional attraction. However, they are unsupported by real world data. That is, it has not been shown in the real world that a minimum wage that has resulted in adverse macroeconomic effects.

I am for the minimum wage but I do not expect it to be a living wage. Any one who thinks it's not enough has not put the effort into making their place in life better and do not derserve the benifits afforded to us who have. It is good to have an established minimum but this is only the beginning wage. Want more? Work for it. Get an education.

politically, it sounds benevolent, but regulation of wages bucks the laws of free economics that ultimately hurts minimum wage employees.

Once u raise min wages, employers have to pass along those increases to customers. this squeezes employers so they usually wind up employing fewer workers. this is the short loop. The long effect is an impact on inflation (remember min wage employment is the backbone of all developed industry- barring illegal migrant labor, which nobody knows about), which ultimately just bumps the price of everything up, meaning some of those min wage gains are lost.

I am for a mininmum wage (Although it should be raised, i agree) because without one, an employer could pay anything they wanted to. I do beleive that the minimum wage has to go up a certain percentage when the cost of living expences go up. I dont remember where i heard that though.
