This is soooo hard i can't even begin to explain please help?

If BC=8", CD= 6", and DE= 5", what is the area of the figure???

This may be way off but when I draw a sketch of this figure I get a combination of a rectangle with a triangle on the end of it.

So if the rectangle is 5" x 6"= 30"
and the triangle is 1/2 3" x 6" = 9"

The total area would be 39".

But as I said before, I may be way off.
