So you know the definition of third world.
There were 2 types of powers in a post world war II society: USA (democracy) & USSR (Communism/marxism). Then their allies would side with them (Britain, West Germany, Argentina, Chile for USA, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Various african countries with USSR)
All 3rd world really means is the countries that did not side specifically with either of these two powers (Ie Syria, Peru, Afghanistan, Bangladesh etc.) not that they are broke, it just so happen that most of them were on a lower economic level which made 3rd world synomous with a broke *** country.

the term got here approximately from the worldwide powers after worldwide conflict II, or the chilly conflict era. the U.S. (and a great sort of it fairly is allies in Western Europe) have been called the 1st worldwide because of the fact of a 'greater advantageous' economiy and technological progression. the 2d worldwide replaced into the Soviet Union(and all of it's allies). The 0.33 worldwide replaced into something of the globe, impovershied by skill of the two worldwide Wars and fights for independence from colonial rule. desire that helped. oh, and Africa is a continent...with over 50 distinctive countries in it...you have gotten meant that, yet I had t factor it out sorry lol.
