Tip for word problems:
Write it out with graph, table, picture, etc.
The only way to figure these out is to sort of draw it.
1st bell= 12 noon, 12:30. 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, etc.
2nd bell= 12 noon, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, etc.
3rd bell= 12 noon, 12:40, 1:20, 2:00, 2:40, 3:20, 4:00, etc.
So the next time they'd ring together would be 2 PM.

this is pretty easy if you know all of the common multiples of 34and6 and can divide them by 6. because they ring at noon, the problem is pretty easy, because noon is like 0. then all you have to do is find the lowest common multiple. 30 and 60 are easy, b/c the 30 rings every time the 60 does, so all you have to do is find out when the 60 and 40 ring together. the lowest common multiple of these 2 numbers is 120. divide it by 60 and you get 2. so the answer is 2 o'clock. im pretty sure
