What would a well-off woman wear in 1937?

I need to write a memoir for English, and I need to give an idea of the time period by clothes, etc., and I'm not sure how to describe the clothing of 1937.

One big color was Wallis Blue after Wallis Warfield Simpson. Satin gowns cut on the bias. Large picture hats, Blue fox chasing stoles(the fox is biting his tail) Anyone who was anyone simply had to have a Schiaparelli creation. A bit avant gard! Shocking as in Shocking pink.
