I have a 2001 dodge stratus auto transmissio and 4 cyl. engine I was driving down the road and the car shifted out of gear. the car is in a permanent neutral. I have retrieved the diagnostic codes but I am not sure what the damage really is the codes were as follows P0700, P0731, P0732, P1781 and P1782. Please help me what is the next step and or what is the damage

P0700= Transmission Control System Malfunction
p0731= Gear 1 Incorrect ratio
p0732= Gear 2 Incorrect ratio
p1781= Engine Torque Signal Circuit
P1782= Transmission solenoid pack needs to be replaced

well the codes you gave p0700 is the transmission control system malfunction code. try to see if the plug on you transmission came loose it will be a big plug you cant miss it may also have a broken pin in it you will have you un plug it to see . if it is fine than your control unit needs to be replaced.

If anybody give you a price to fix your trans without pulling it out and apart or a price on a rebuilt one run away . No one will know until they have your tans apart what it will cost. What broke inside the trans no one can tell you that with it in the car . Best maybe to price out a rebuilt one.

First thing, check the fluid level...if that is where it's supposed to be (idle in park or neutral), then it may be the pump, or a bad electronic module.

If you lost that much fluid, you'll need to find the leak fast...
