i own a shop,and parts and labor on all this shouldn't cost over 350 bucks at the most,i did one last year for a 4 wheel drive,and it cost that much,and really changing the differential isn't much different in a 2 wheel drive either,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Dodge Man nailed it. Unless your carrier is damaged or the housing's bent or damaged $ 500 should do it. There a dozen places to get new ring and pinions. Bearings are inexpensive if you can get bearing numbers and purchase them from a bearing dealer. They are in the yellow pages. The shim kit will need to come from GM. Maybe you have a bearing problem only that's a money saver. You will not be sure until it's taken apart.

and what exaclty is wrong with it? Typical ring and pinion with bearings replacements run about one thousand dollars US.
