I think you are missing a closed parenthesis. The way I understand the problem is:

30-5(8-3^2/5)

First look at whatever is inside the parenthesis and then look at the item that is squared, since it has priority. 3 squared is 9, and 9 divided by 5 is 1.8. We then subtract 1.8 from 8, giving us 6.2.

30-5(6.2)

We next multiply 6.2 by 5=31. 30 minus 31= -1

But if it is:

30-5(8-3^2)/5

The answer is different. As always, we calculate the contents of a parenthesis first:

8 minus 3-squared is 8-9=-1. Now notice that -1 is multiplied by 5 and then divided by 5. The 5's cancel out, leaving -1.

We now are left with
30- (-1). Subtracting a negative value is the same as adding a positive value (two negatives make a positive) so:

30+1=31

Aways keep track of the parenthesis, and solve whatever is inside it first, calculating anything raised to a power first, then doing multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction.

I am assuming your problem should read:
[(30-5)(8-3)^2 ]/5
(30-5)=25 (8-3)=5 5^2=5*5=25

[25(25)]/5
5*25=125

If you meant something else - please repost and I will try to help you again

30-5(8-3^2/5)
30-5(8-9/5)
30-5(8-4.5)
30-5(4.5)
30-22.5

7.5
