I dont think there is, i got mine by telling them i really needed it for school.

Call them collect from a pay phone whenever you are out of the house and need them to pick you up!
(Only kidding...that would probably make them angry and wouldn't really help your case!)
Explain that it is important for you to have a cell phone so they can contact you, (and you can contact them) in case of an emergency.
If you are old enough to drive, it is important for you to have a cell phone in case you get a flat tire, run out of gas, or get in a accident.
Tell them that it will be easier for you to periodically check in with them when you are out if you have your own phone.
Stick with reasons why this will be a convenience for them, and stay away from anything about calling or texting your friends!

i did by buying my own.
virgin mobiles have great prepaid plans and texting is heap. the only downside is i have horrible signal when i call someone. oh and their phones can be cheap too.
so buy a phone and a top up card and if you dont have a job or money when u need to buy another top u can wait till you do.
your phone will turn on but you just wont be able to mae calls or texzt until you buy a top up.

17 is this way of late age to get a cell telephone. I have been given my first cellular in 5th grade lol. nicely, I informed my mom that i may be to blame and that i might choose it to call her to enable her be attentive to i may be at a pals abode or that i might like a extra advantageous thank you to communicate with my pals. I propose you pay for it too.

just bring up issues that would not have been an issue if u would've had a phone.
and just your friends don't like letting you use theirs cause it wastes their minutes.
just talk to your parents abour good reasons for having one, but if they can't afford one now, or just yeah.
but an eaiser way would just be to ask for it your a bday gift or something like that.
