Many of the previous answers were tacky.
If the knowledge bothers you, it shows you have a conscience. Please just be more aware of the power some people have over others. I found out the same thing, and even though it was over 200 years ago, it makes me sick. We have to realize that it happened a long time ago and hopefully- with that knowledge- we will be better people and never treat others badly.My best

You need to find the descendants of the slaves that your ancestors owned and then call them up and tell them something like "My ancestors PWNED your ancestors noob".

Well, you can find out the names of the slave families your ancestors owned, look them up and give them reparations.
Pay them back for all the years the slaves worked on your ancestors farms and plantations. And, you could humbly apologize on behalf of your family for being slave owners.
