I am almost 19 weeks pregnant and lately have been experiencing a sharp pain on my right side, just under my breast, near my rib cage, I guess it would be. It doesn't occur at all times, but it is painful, and sometimes feels like a pulling or popping. It also is accompanied by intense back pain along the right mid-section of my back.

What could this pain be? Isn't it too soon for my baby to be this high up and causing this much pain?

If you have a short mid section, your baby will be carried high and your ribs can feel bruised. Babies are almost always higher up and drop toward the end of pregnancy. Remember, your body is expanding a little and you may need to consult your OB specialist about this to get some better answers. They can do an ultrasound and find out if there is a problem.

I had that same problem with all of my pregnancies but I didn't have a lot of room so I always felt like I was short of breath.

It sounds like it could be your gall bladder. Have you noticed if it happens after you eat certain foods? Just to be safe I would go see a doctor. Hope it's the baby just jabbing you. Good luck!
