I'm looking for ideas for my future daughter-in-law. She will (hopefully) be in the hospital for many more weeks! I've sent playing cards, puzzle books, paint by number, movies, books, and magazines. She doesn't have any hobbies, ie: knitting, etc. Thanks for any ideas you can share with us!

You can get her some pregnancy books, so she can get excited about the baby, and like you said some magazines that she likes, magazines of the beach and vacations which'll keep her at ease, and go visit her to talk to her when she's not resting, keep her company you know? Maybe some kind of joke book, photo albums to look at your son when he was a baby and her when she was little if you can get those so she can compare what her child may look like, thats exciting too! And any photo albums just to look at.

I would try books on cd. They helped me spend the time after surgery. You could also try giving her a cute little journal to write her thoughts down for the baby to read at a later date.
Stationary to write thank you's and notes to people who visit or send gifts. Include stamps and address book. She will go stir crazy even with all that stuff. I did! I know every nook and cranny of the ceiling in my bedroom! ugh! Give her some time to sleep and invite visitors at only specified times. A bedjacket or some cute top cover up will help with embarrasment. Also a Bedwedge will help with the backstrain she will get. Good luck and congratulations on the grandbaby!

Buy a baby book that she can write in and kinda keep a daily journal of what is going on so the baby will have something to tell him/her what their mother went through to have them!! lol! My husband bought me the Nintendo DS lite ( I love videogames) when I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and now that I am on home bedrest I still play it everyday. I know its a little expensive but it is worth it, so I can keep my sanity.

I f she has done all her studying on pregnancy, you have given her all the right tools, being the inlaws, it was good for you to not give her total parenting books. Why hasn't your son given you ideas? How about a laptop? Kind of spendy, where are her parents? Cell phone , mp3 player, head set, . You are defintely on the right track, great job pulling more than your weight. Have a great time being grandparents.

Coloring books. laptop (email). Prayer journal. Ask her what she would like you to bring. Also, sexy gowns and ropes. Make her feel beautiful, and get lots of rest. Might want to paint her nails clear, etc. flowers makes the room smell nice. Lavendor, peperiment. (armo smells). Sometimes back off. She might be feeling like doing nothing because of this.
