I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how big a 0.28 carat diamond is. This is for a engagement ring and I am ordering it without seeing it. Id like a comparison, like the size of an eraser on a pencil, etc. Id like an idea before going through with it. As i dont want something too small or to big. Thanks for your help!!!

Unless it is an EXCEPTIONAL deal, I wouldn't order it sight unseen. A .28 is considered a quarter carat, which is fairly modest in size. Depending on the depth of the stone (which varies) I suppose you could say it is the size of an eraser on a pencil. In any case, Make sure whoever you are purchasing from has a return policy. Good luck.

Unless you know a little about diamonds, I'm not sure I'd order w/o seeing. There's a lot to buying a diamond. I don't know if the diamond you're looking at is round, marquis, oval, princess, emerald cut. These are differenct shapes that diamonds come in. Assuming that it is round, .28 (also called 28 points) carat is considered a 1/4 carat and, depending on the depth, which is also considered in determining the carat, should be about 1/8 of an inch in diameter (maybe just over 1/8"). You should also consider the quality of the diamond. I've seen some pretty ugly diamonds. A good diamond should look clear and not cloudy and should have a lot of sparkle. Hope this helps.

A 0.28 carat diamond would measure somewhere between 4.1mm (0.24 carat) and 4.5mm (0.33 carat.) This would be the diameter of the stone, just pull out a ruler and this will give you a good idea as to what the general size of the stone would be. I assure you it is quite a bit smaller than a pencil eraser, so please don't use that as a guide because I think you will be disappointed.

Unless you trust the seller of this diamond and there is a return policy, I would not buy a diamond sight unseen. There is much more to a diamond than just its size. You want to consider cut, clarity and color as well. Good luck!
