I was just wondering because if you go to any pet store like Petco In california U see a whole part of the store just ment for ferrets! I thought they were illegale

Unfortunately, no. Ferrets are illegal in California except under posession of a special permit granted for transportation and medical research. You can't get this permit if you're only keeping it as a pet.

Petco has that section because despite the ban, there are currently about 500,000 ferret owners in California that keep their pets illegally. The law is loosely enforced, and typically the worst that could come of it is having your pet confiscated and a rather hefty fine.

As far as I knew they were illegal there. Maybe you can obtain some sort of permit to own one? Who knows...

u have to get some kind of permit for one dont ask me where to get one.. but... i used to live in NOLA (new orleans louisana) and i had one there.. they wouldent let me on the plane with it.
