A state representative's job is identical to a federal congressional person's job but on the state level.

Just like federal representatives, they make laws, vote for governor nominated judges, etc..., serve on committees, create and debate legislation, etc...

The main difference is that everything they do applies to their state only and not the federal government.

The state representative presents the issues of his people whom he represents in the national government. He votes on behalf of his people and lobbies for projects beneficial to his state.
