Bind your boobs.
Wear a really tight sports bra and wrap an ace bandage over top of the bra. You can put ice packs under the bandage, but over the bra to help dull the pain when the milk comes in (it will anyway). Keep your boobs out from under the warm water when you shower. The milk will dry up in a few days, but you may continue to leak for a while. not much, but a little bit.
and yes, the milk will come in anyway, as the person below me pointed out (and as I pointed out already, but she apparently did not read that part).......but the binding makes it hurt WAY less when your boobs become engorged, and it really does help.

What is it about women who think that if you do not breatfeed you're a horrid mother!!!! I had inverted nipples and was unable to breastfeed my daughter and they have not changed (prego with 2nd child). It is a woman's choice to breastfeed. I do agree that the health benefits are outstanding, but not everyone has time to do it. Or are physically capable of doing it. I had to bind my breasts and bear with it for the next few months. Teagansmommy needs to quit acting so holier than thou! Don't you have anything nice to say to anyone? Or do you just feel that everyone must do as you think is fit? Get real. "any pain you feel is well deserved...." Sadistic B I T C H!!!!!!!!

Binding sounds painful! A lactose specialist told me to use cabbage leaves. place them in your bra. I didn't do it, 'cause it
smelled bad. I breastfed for the 1st 2 1/2 months, then I weaned
babies off slowly. Since you're not bfing, if you have a breast pump or can borrow one, pump a little, only until your breasts don't feel tight & uncomfortable. Go for a little while longer next time you pump. Each time you pump less out, your body will make less. If you just stop altogether while your body is producing a lot of milk, you might get engorged(painful!)

all the above suggestions are good ones. Another idea would be cabbage leaves (don't laugh!)....taking ice cold leaves and placing them on your breasts for about 15 minutes or so will help- apparently there is a chemical found in the leaves that aids in drying up the milk supply.
That tidbit was given to me by a lactation specialist at the hospital where i delivered...

If you never breast fed the baby it will just dry up. If you are trying to stop breast feeding you need to pump just a little when you feel very full and let it dry up slowly. You can't just stop breastfeeding after you have been nursing a baby several times a day. If your breasts get sore or hard pump right away. You do not want to get an infection. I had one. It was not fun.y

Your milk will come in about 3-5 days after giving birth and unfortunately it will get worse before it gets better.....but you will just have to tough it out.........basically your body will stop producing milk when it realizes you arent using it.........SO DONT PUMP IT ....even if your breast feel like they are going to explode...because whatever you take out your body will replace because your body will think you're breastfeeding.......just let it run its course ....thats all you can do !

It doesnt matter if you bind or whatever else people tell you. The milk comes in and goes away whenever it chooses too. Could be a week, could be months. Invest in breast pads and have fun.

best thing to do is to put ice packs on your breasts. just leave them on (not directly on the skin) for about 20 minutes at a time.. i heard about the cabbage leaves too.. one of my friends said it worked for her.. doesn't hurt to try

i stopped breastfeeding my son a week after he was born ( not because i wanted, but because he was lactose intolerant and was having trouble with his feedings!!!) anyhow i use to be able to pump 8oz out of each breast at one sit!!! my boobs got huge!!! when i stopped breastfeeding my milk was dried up within a week of no feedings. i still leaked a lil bit, but it wasn't anything that breast pads couldn't hold.good luck!!

I've heard put cabbage leaves in your bra, can't speak from personal experience though.
