Im doing hmwk on figurative language. I cant decide if the quote " Abbys heart fell" is a metaphore or personification. PLease help so i understand :)

That is describing Abby's heart. A metaphor is a comparison using like or as. Abby's heart was like a song. Personification compares like a metaphor but with something in the sentence that relates to a person or animal or thing. Abby's heart was as big as a chipmonk. Or his laugh was like a donkey's

It is personification.

We can rule out a metaphor, because it is not comparing two unlike things. It simply states that it fell.

It is personification because it is giving human characteristics (clumsiness) to a non human (a heart).

personification because it is giving an inanimate (not humanly active) human-like qualities. metaphors compare two things.
