I have 3 weeks left until my due date and I have been getting these sharp pains below my uterus. I mentioned it to my doctor's intern and at first she said Bracton Hicks, and when I told her I had those and they were different, she said round ligament pain. I have had those too and they are more to the sides. This really feels like my bladder. I'm not sure, but I thought they check for bladder infection when you have your doctor appointment when they take the urine sample. Does anyone know for sure if they check for that? If it isn't a bladder infection, could it just be from all the pressure that the baby is putting on my bladder? Has anyone experienced these sharp pains before and know what they are?

If it is cervical pain, does that mean I could have the baby soon? my due date is still three weeks away. Could this mean I will go early?

If it is a knife stabbing pain..........then yes it is normal cervical pain. It is your body preparing to have the baby.

They are checking for:
Protein in your urine. This can indicate a urinary tract infection or, later in pregnancy, a pregnancy-related condition that includes high blood pressure. Your health care provider may suggest additional tests if your urine has protein in it.

**It really is hard to say..............it could be any day or you could go past your due date!!

Good luck!!

you baby must have dropped, congrats. it happens starting from 3 weeks before the due date (sometimes though just hours before labor), but anyway, now your baby puts even greater pressure on your bladder. and especially when he/she moves, even slightly, you feel those pains- the baby is touching some specific nerves. I''m experiencing the same for 3 weeks already too. Sometimes it's really unbearable, try to change the position of your body or try to move the baby slightly. The big day is pretty soon, that's what important. take care, good luck.

Does it feel more like sharp pains where your cervix possibly is? This is a sign of good things to come. I had this with every single pregnancy. It was pretty painful at most times and would stop me in my tracks. It's nothing to worry about as long as your not bleeding. Some friends were told by their doctors it was a type of contraction as well, but my doctor's never told me that. But I found when I had this pain pretty intensely I would have dilated a good bit ;-) I hope you have a wonderful labor and delivery!

During my pregnancy I had pressure on my bladder and thats what it felt like pressure which made me have to use the bathroom more. I went into early labor at 33 weeks and had extreme period like cramps but way, way worse. Is that what your having? Has your water broke? You will definetly know when that happens. It's a sudden urge to pee and you cannot hold it whatsoever. I hope this helps.
