Most modern fountain pen tips are modular - made in one piece and can't be taken apart. But they use the same process as a dip-pen - the divided nib on top with a reservoir beneath to hold the ink against the tip. In modern modular nibs, there is a siphon tube behind the nib that draws the ink... pretty simple. The clogging generally takes place within the reservoir, which makes it fairly easy to clean, depending on which ink is the culprit.

What type of ink was used in it? You should try dissolving the ink before dissecting the nib to get it running again. Be careful not to use any solvents that may ruin the plastic (for instance - do not use Acetone.)

Try each of these one at a time (in this order) until you find one that works. Don't mix them together...! Immerse the nib in a small sealed container overnight, give it a few shakes now & then. Be patient. If you don't see any results, wash with soapy water, rinse well & try the next one.

Dish Detergent & HOT water 50/50 - dissolves water-based inks.
Methyl Alcohol or anti-freeze - dissolves most waterproof & India inks
Ammonia - dissolves acrylics
Mineral Spirits - Turpentine, Turpenoid, Varsol - dissolves oil-based, alkyd, some shellac-based products

Good luck!

put the pen in water let it soak.

I have several fountain pens and they have worked for years but they dry up sometimes and a little water will clear it. You might want to put in a new ink cartridge as well. After soaking it might take a little while of writing before the pen resumes to normal.

Sounds like you have a pen with a cartridge and opening always depends on the type of pen you might need to search the name like sensa for example if you can't figure on how to open it.
