I am due April 1st and have had my babys name picked out for 6 yrs ( variation of my little cousins middle name ) well anyway this girl (although I say girl we are both adults!!) is due mid May and says she is naming her baby the same thing!! Now I know I dont have a patent on the name but it is fairly uncommon and not only is she taking the first name but she is also taking the middle name. Would you be upset??

yeah that sucks.. what you can do though is name your kid what you planned on naming it and make sure that your kid is waaaay smarter than hers and way better at sports and has way more friends. thatll show her!

I would be really upset. You should name your baby that name and tell her that she needs a new name. I am not sure what she is like but I hope she wouldn't be silly enough to call her baby the same name after you have.

yes I'd be upset, but don't let your friend know and since you are having your baby first, chances are, she will change her mind by the time her baby is born, she will probably want her childs name to be distinctive as well since the name you have picked out is uncommon. good luck and be the bigger person and don't let something this childish appear to bother you. She may just be trying to get a rise out of you anyway.

If your due in april and she is due in may you can have the name first and maybe she wont name her kid that anymore,,,, name your baby what you want to name her,,, who cares about what anyone else does or thinks!

That would piss me off! I would tell her that it was making me upset and I would ask her why she was doing that. If you really, truely believe that that name is the one you want, I wouldnt let anybody take it from me. Plus...how long do you think that you will be around this person? And do you think that she is doing it to see what you will do? Good luck and keep me posted if you can. I would like to know the outcome.

Its totally upsetting! Anyways, you'll be delivering your baby soner than she will so I just wanna advice you to baptize your baby right away. In a way, you could claim that you are the first to use that name.

I know how you feel. I've never actually had it happen because I'm only pregnant with my first child, but I've spent so much time looking for names that I would be furious if someone "stole" it. It might seem ridiculous to some people, but names are really personal. Obviously this woman doesn't have much of an imagination. I hope you can talk her out of it.

yea but if that is the name you want then go with it. Your due first so will have the name first she might not go threw with it once you do it and if she does oh well she jsut wants to be like you

Well you are due first. So looks like your baby will have the name first. Take a little bit of glory in that fact.

hey girl-don't fret. like you said, you don't own the name. it's okay!! you're due first anyway :D so your baby will still be named that FIRST! i would be upset initially, follower by feeling flattered (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery), followed by SAD. she needs to find her own unique name. I'm sad she's got no imagination and she feels the need to do this.
