Girls (and many women, for that matter) are rather fickle and have short attention spans. If you don't show immediate interest, you may be immediately written off. However, if a girl is bored or there's no one more interesting around, then you may find yourself the object of her attention once again.

My advice: find a girl that doesn't play games like this, who isn't just looking for attention, and who knows what she wants.
