My life is really weird. I'm Christian and I honestly care about people. If they have a problem I'll listen to them and i'll commit to helping them out. People very often say I'm too happy because I tend to make everyone's day. I do get sad at times, and when I go look for a shoulder to lean on, people tell me to stop caring because I'll never find anything in return. They say i'm a freak for caring and for helping them... i helped them with their problems shouldn't they say i'm doing a good thing? and i don't butt into people's business...when people are down i just let them know they can come to me, i don't just start asking questions or get myself involved right away. Is there anyone else out there that cares just as much as I do? I'm not looking for an answer to the way people treat me...just comments?

--What you are doing is what Christ recommended in being generous, especially in giving of ourselves, it is the best of presents:

(Luke 6:38) “38 Practice giving, and people will give to YOU. They will pour into YOUR laps a fine measure, pressed down, shaken together and overflowing. For with the measure that YOU are measuring out, they will measure out to YOU in return.”. . .”

--The return should not be expected from people otherwise we will be very disappointed.

--The greatest of approval is from God & Christ Jesus his Son. Genuine appreaciation rarely comes from humans--

(Matthew 6:2-4) “. . .. 3 But you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, 4 that your gifts of mercy may be in secret; then your Father who is looking on in secret will repay you.”

--My wife and I find this saying helps "hope in everything and expect nothing"---There is a great difference in true hope & faith and they are not fantasies!

When performing a good deed for someone, I cherish Kant's philosophy on what to expect in return: nothing. I am simply acting out of percieved kindness because I believe it is my duty and the drive behind my human will, not because I expect anything from the reciever. Following this philosophy, I found that I am able to be happy purely because I am able to share my beliefs, not project them on others. Even if you are half-expecting a good reaction from those you help, you are still committing the action with an expectation rather than for the belief of good will itself. You must also bear in mind that those you offer assistance to may not wish to accept it or may resent you for your "kindness". Maybe if you stay true to your religion, faith, and hopes, you will act out of true compassion and understanding, not in order to acquire a good response.

Hope for a better future and faith that everything will "turn out right in the end" are really no different than believing that because SOMEBODY will win the lottery, there is no good reason to suspect it won't be you!

It's nice to be happy, but get a grip!

Well by listening to someone talk about their troubles you made someone's day. Why should you care about what others say? They are jaded and are ridiculous to tell you to stop caring. They are the mean and uncaring freaks. If nobody cared, suicide rates will shoot WAY UP and crimes will occur more frequently. So ignore them, continue to put a little light in someone else's life and god bless =)

No good deed goes unpunished.

Givers derive pleasure from helping those who DESERVE help.

Give 10% of yourself to someone. Wait & see what they do with it. If nothing, move on. Not ready for help. Look for those who are ready for help.

People that are unhappy need someone to talk to. Just listen then ask them what the answer is.
