It takes about 5 hours or so for the DS to change completly. You will know when it's charged when the orange light goes off. Anyhow, when you set the DS to the darkest light setting it can last appox. 15-17 hours! Also, when you have the light on the max. brightness setting, it can last approx. 5-8 hours. I am not completly sure how long the battery will last if you put it on the other brightness settings. Another thing, the battery will last 2 hours at best when the light turns red (but it depends on what brightness setting it's on).

A Nintendo DS lasts 18 hours and a DS Lite lasts 50 hrs. fully charged. When the light is red about 1-2 hrs. on DS and 2-3 hrs. on a DS lite

I dont know about yours, but mine can last around 2 1/--3 1/2 hours without being charged.
