I am supposed to get the vaccine for cervical cancer and I have been reading some pretty awful side effects, including flu like symptoms, rash/hives, and almost every case was fainting . . . I am a little nervous now, but those were all cases from this past fall, I think right when they came out with this vaccine. Anyone get this vaccine? AND did you experience any side effects???

Well, I went and got it today, despite my second thoughts . . . All is well, except they caught me off guard when they told me they were gonna stick me in my booty- Awkward, but I guess it would hurt less in my behind than my arm.

i have not gotten it yet simply because i cannot find anywhere that has it! as soon as i do, i'm getting it. the most common side effect i've heard of is swelling, redness, or itching at the injection site but fever, nausea, and dizziness are possibilities too. personally, if it protects me from the worst and most common types of HPV, i don't mind that at all.

I personally haven't gotten it yet, and have been thinking about it. It has been FDA approved but maybe it wasn't in the fall?
However, something to ponder, I've read that they're coming out with another vaccination sometime near i think April, that will protect against ALL of the cancer causing kinds of HPV... and Gardasil only protects around three or four? Forgive me if thats not the exact, but, If I were you, I'd probably wait until they develop a little more into it and keep checking side effects from others.

I haven't gotten it, but I can tell you that some minor pain and temporary flu-like symptoms are better than dealing with genital warts or cancer later down the road.

Unfortunately, I already have one of the strains of HPV so they won't vaccinate me. I wish I was born a couple of years earlier.

I'm not getting it because it hasn't been proven to be safe yet nor have any aftereffects.

It's a new vaccine. It can take years before they find out if it is really safe.

If you're not sexually active, I would wait awhile before getting the vaccine.

As far as I am concerned- I am skipping it for now- I have a 14 year old and our Dr. tried to convince us to allow our daughter to get it- I say NO WAY, this time next year it will be all over CNN reporting some crazy things that it does to your body- There is just not enough history behind it for me!!!!
