Sometimes going on birth control pills or other forms of hormonal therapy will work. It will usually cut down the duration and blood flow of periods, and also make the symptoms of your period less. I used to have horribly painful periods. I would get cramps so bad I would pass out. I was put on the Pill, and things got a lot better. I would talk to your doctor about your options. Going on the Pill doesn't mean you are sexually active these days, so if your mom is worried about this, take her to your appointment with you so she can ask questions. I don't know how old you are, so I don't know if that would apply to you. I really would talk to your doctor though about it. Good luck!!

Continuous painful periods are not normal. You definitely need to see a gynecologist and have a good physical exam. There may be something you can be given for your severe pain. I do know that B vitamins taken daily for about a week before your period does help. (This is from a gynecologist). Some people suffer more at the beginning of their menses until the stream gets heavier but either way, please see your physician. I went through this as well. You will be glad you did. You should not have to lose your job over this when something can be done. The physician can write a note to your supervisor if necessary. The kind person who suggested endometriosis was completely right. It could be that you have endometriosis and yes, it was spelled correctly. Endometriosis can be controlled by prescribing certain types of birth control medication. Ask your doctor every question you can think of.

Best wishes.

This is probably a question you should ask your OBGYN. There could be underlying medical problems that are causing you to have such difficulties, and if nothing else, she would be the most qualified to assess your own personal situtation and give advice that would help you.

That said, birth control has helped a few of my friends to have more regular and less painful cycles, though not everyone is comfortable taking it.

Regular exercise and proper diet of course go a long way, as well as drinking plenty of water. I find that hot tea helps many maladies, and has a very soothing effect on the stomach.

As far as over the counter medications go, I find ibuprophen to work better than anything else. Everyone varies though!

Birth control or hormone therapy are both options that many women take. Also, if you don't want to do that much, try taking plenty of iron and calcium EVERYDAY... and excersice regularly [atleast three times a week for an hour], especially around that time of the month. Heating pads are great for cramps, and try midol if you haven't. Other than that, there are some herbal teas and massage oils that are supposed to work... Try some out and see what you like, there's plenty of things you can do to help periods naturally before you go to the pill.

Well, somebody told me that eating chocolate everyday for a week before your period helps, and I thought they were crazy but it actually worked.

Bananas help also. But if pain killers aren't working I suggest taking a higher dose or talking to a doctor about it..

You should go with your endocrine and she may tell you what to do... wear a very large night pad to work and change it very often with pain killers you may get very dizy so you will definetly need to stay out of work...instead of asking in yahoo i would definetly ask for professional help :)

Going on the pill can regulate them and decrease the flow and pain. I'M NOT A DOCTOR, but my sister-in-law had the same problem and the pill helped.

i was just like you before... i'd be rolling over and feeling as though the world was going to fall on me from the pain.

i had a friend who took this prescription aspirin for hers and she used to get them as bad as i did. i never took them but i heard they work. i'm not sure what they are but you might want to talk to your doctor.

another option is birth control. i got on that but didnt follow through with it because when you first get on it , you get "break through bleeding".. and i was bleeding an entire month.. i just got tired of it and got off the pill...

also.. maybe aspirin doesnt work for you once you start the heavy cramping. thats how it was for me. i basically took it the day before when i knew i was goin to get my period soon.
