Orange, yellow-orange, and yellow are an example of analogous colors. Analogous colors sit next to each other on the color wheel.They are blended nicely in Sunflowers, a painting by Vincent Van Gogh. How do you know that these colors are closely related? They share a color—each of them contains some yellow.
TRY IT! Choose a primary color and a secondary color. For example, you might choose blue and green. Don't they look nice together? That's because they are analogous. With just these two colors, you can create even more analogous colors—blue-green, green-blue, and others in-between. All of these will have a color in common: blue.

Once I typed in purple.com. It's a real place! That a_ word means alike in some way, so purple and blue; orange and red. I'm not positive, but I just spent5min looking it up, so it better be right. L8ta Crackalaka(That's MY word, not your's)

analogous colors are colors that are located side by side on the color wheel that contain a common color...
red, red-orange, orange, yellow-orange...common color, red
yellow, yellow-green, green, blue-green...common color, yellow
blue, blue-violet, violet, red-violet...common color, blue
red, red-violet, violet, blue-violet...common color, red
there are several 3 or 4 color groupings that can be found...take a look at a color wheel and discover...
