my co worker offered me his small ps2 for 50 bucks and the games are extra is that a good deal?

Depends on the condition of the PS2, but if it was in good working condition, then it's a great deal. I have the older version of the PS2... it's been 6+ years and it still hasn't had one problem. (And I play 10+ hrs a week). But I suggest you save up and get a PS3.
