since there brains are so small will they be able to forget to do tricks and take food from your hand and will they forget about u?

Fish do not hate, because fish do not have "emotions".
If you tap the fishtank to the goldfish it sounds like a bomb going off, so he "jumps"
But he doesnt hate you for causing shock and awe - he cant hate.
But he can learn.
A neat trick for a gold fish is:
You get yourself a bell and you ring that bell each time of the day you feed the fish.
After a few times his brain will connect the sound of the bell with getting food.
What that other person said about a fish only remembering 3 secs isnt ture.

Fish run basically in instinct and very, very little on learned behavior. With positive input (food) they can and will learn to do certain very simple things to get their food. No doubt they would forget within a few days at most if it's not reinforced every day.

i have had several hand feedable eels,they would come out of the water if i didnt drop the food. they remember and see very well.the brain is split into 2 sides.left eye right side of brain, etc. they have seperate memories from each side also.

It depends on the type of fish, they do retain memory. I had a fish who could come to the food when I jingled the bell. He also followed my finger the length of the tank
