A place to start is

It's a group of bluegrass and acoustic musicians - specializing in Guitar, Mandolin and Banjo. They have a banjo expert named David Cavage on that site and they're very open to questions.

They also have a ton of free video lessons if you want to get started that way. I've been on this site for a few months and it is the best.

Whooo...I was not aware of a 6 (six) string! The only all AMERICAN instrument is the banjo.

The sounds that can be arrived from a 5 string is astronomical . So why a 6 string?

I dont't know if it helps but a 6 string bajo is identical to a guitar so anything for guitar will work nicely.
