(I'm going to move my oscar when i get my p's) i want to know what filter i should get for my soon coming piranhas? emperor power filter 400, aqua clear 500 power filter, or any more thats better?

I wouldn't say the Whisper "sucks". I do like AquaClear power filters more however. I'd go for the AquaClear 70 or maybe even 110, as these fish are messy.

Get more than 1 filter!. Whispers are good, but you should get a bigger one like the Emperor 400 or a Fluval filter. Water changes will be very important!

I've got a Emporer 400 and a Magnum 350 canister filter and my tank's only 38-gallons. The Magnum's a convertible and will attach to a wet-dry system if I wanted to go that far, but the Emporer does that job just fine for my "little" tank.

The larger the filter the better since you insist on massively over stocking your tank. Please reconsider doing this to those fish. 6 Piranha are far too much for a 55 gallon tank.

Any one of those filters will work fine, it just depends on what you like.

It sounds like your bigger problem will be the size of the tank if you add 6 piranhas. The tank is not big enough for that many.

Good Luck

Look at how many gallons per hour it moves, the more the better
