how do you feel about the whole walter reed hospital tragedy?

Believe me,,,it's not just the Reed Hospital, most of the Military Hospitals were constructed back in the 40's and 50's and contain all the materials that today are not allowed to be used. Asbestos etc. Most of them have had upgrades but, for the most part are still in bad shape. The VA hospitals are old and worn out and we keep patching them rather than replace them. I as a retired Vet, have been in at least 7 VA Hospitals and all of them are in pretty bad shape. I would say only that congress needs to allocate more money so that these outdated hospitals can be replaced. And while their at it, they need to replace J. Nicholson, the yes man to Pres Bush who is in charge of the VA money. I won't blame Bush because this started long before he became Prez and long before Clinton became Prez. The fact is, they won't allocate money to build new hospitals. If we just took 5 billion of the 85 more billion they want to continue in Iraq, we could build several new VA Hospitals. No Priority.

Mad, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. Military medical care has always been substandard. The Vetran's Administration has been actively involved in the systematic "Murder by Neglect" of vetrans since perhaps the Korean War: They certainly put the practice in high gear with our Vietnam Vets. The VA needs to be demolished and rebuilt from the ground up. This latest tragedy may be a chance to "Get 'ER Done"

Nothing suprises me anymore . Poor commander that just resigned was a scapegoat. It just goes to show the government believes in the old saying that "Good soldiers never die , they just go away"
