Many things possible.

Could be a clogged fuel line, filter, or jet.

Could also be a crack or hole in a fuel line.

What makes you think its a fuel problem, could be spark, or air?

If it is a 2 cycle engine, its probably the internal REED valves that are causing trouble, not the carb which is very reliable and simple. What that causes is the engine to not have a steady suction thru the car hole, instead it pushes air out and when the piston goes upward, thus the suction is lost. Lots of 2 cycle carb problems blamed on carbs when in fact it is not a carb problem at all.

Remove the air cleaner and squirt down into there a good dose of carb cleaner. If the thing will start, run it at 1/2 speed and continue squirting 4 or 5 good doses to clean the reed valves. If this doesnt work, you probably need to disassemble the engine and youl find a slight crack on the bend of one of the reed valve. Replace and the engine will run fine.

Start at the gas tank.If it's got an in tank filter, take it out and replace it.Change your fuel line, it could have a crack or be leaking around the connections or clamps.Just because you don't see gas leaking doesn't mean it's not sucking air while it's running.Next break down the carb and blow it out with gum out carb cleaner.Be sure and get every port clean.Make sure your hands are clean when you put it back together.Only other thing you could look at is to check to see if the your exhaust port behind the muffler isn't plugged up.If it is use a small knife to scrap out the carbon.Don't go to deep and scratch the piston or cylinder.

sounds like the carb needs cleansing. it could be bumped off, disassembled and soaked in a purifier for a pair of hours. Then examine the jets to make sure they're free of junk. Blow them and the carb out with air and placed it back at the same time.
